15 meter Bluetooth Proxy

Can someone recommend a device that will communicate to a Bluetooth device at 15 meters in open air?

I read that Bluetooth 5.x can go 4 times the distance as 4.x. Is it correct to assume I should pick a ESP chipset that uses Bluetooth 5.0 or later? Most recommendations seem to be chips that are 4.3.

Is there a device that offers an external Bluetooth antenna? I understand for a proxy it is not ideal to have the WiFi and Bluetooth on the same radio chip and antenna. Is this correct?

My project is a Luba 2 lawn mower. Ideally I’d put a chip right in the lawn mower but this is a remote project where I need to ship the device to a friend and they are not capable of soldering so I prefer to just have something simple they can plug in. I need the Bluetooth Proxy so I can control it manually from a remote location when it gets stuck.

The ideal device would use Bluetooth 5.0 or later and an external Bluetooth antenna with a case and power supply. I can put components together but I am sort of stuck on the comment that the Bluetooth antenna should be separate from WiFi.

So get out from your stuck, Esp only has one radio and one antenna.
Any external antenna you choose serves for both. 15meters open view shouldn’t be problem.

And use Ethernet.

Definitely not ‘ideal’, but in general practice it tends to work fine. I have loads of BT Proxies setup and they’re all on Wi-Fi. If it’s a specific concern, go with a board that has Ethernet like @nickrout mentioned.
