I have a line-level audio signal. Looking for a cheap amp to add it to bathroom and kitchen speakers. Don’t need a whole receiver. Just 1 stereo input and HA-controllable volume to 1 or 2 pairs of speakers. Any suggestions? Finding lots of commercial amps that have way more power/features/etc. than what I need. Can’t justify a $1,500 amp with eq, etc. for a 20W or so bathroom speaker. Line-level will be coming off of “zone 2” of an AV receiver.

I believe what you’d want is a small Class D audio amplifier. Check Amazon or others. Prices range from $30 USD to $70 USD.
