Hey everyone,
this is more of a search for a concept, not so much a concrete question for a single problem.
Situation:
My wife and i have separate phones and spotify accounts. The living room has a Bluetooth receiver connected to the amp, the bathroom has a small bt boombox. Both Bluetooth devices have support for 2 devices, but with different logic, and not always reliable.
I’m looking for a solution that allows us to flexibly listen to music, without having to reconnect every time, and without having to switch things in a config setting in an app every time. So basically the wireless version of an aux cable in both rooms
Maybe something with nfc tags in both rooms?
On top of that I’d like to have a “generic” spotify player for the amp, for automated music during the day. That one wouldn’t have to go via bluetooth. But with how spotify works, that would have to be linked to either one of our accounts, so only one set of playlists etc…
Does anyone have a highlevel idea for a combination like this one? Also partial ideas for one of the two challenges would be great.
Maybe not something you want to consider because of Google being Google, but I stepped away from bluetooth for these reasons. I put a Google Home mini in the bathroom (with the added benefit of voice control) and a chromecast in my stereo (too bad they killed the Chromecast Audio, I still own two and my main amp has hdmi).
I must admit I do not use HA to start playlists much. From the phone, any one can cast to any chromecast enabled device if they are on the same network. The Google Home itself is logged to the main Google account, so it will proably use the Spotify account connected to it when using voice, so you’d have to share playlists with it.
As for Spotify integration and Spoticast - its been al long time since I played with it but I seem to remember I added all four spotify accounts we have to HA and I could use spoticast to pick what I wanted playing where. But things may have changed and my memory may be spotty(fi)
