it took 13 hours this day for the common-controls to show up once again, and it is a puzzling result.
4 of the 6 entities havent been used at all, not even in an automation.
As there are 2 Hue lights among them which respond to the Hue motion sensor via the Hue app, I can only imagine that to also trigger the common_controls?
the others are yet unexplained, or maybe alone from yesterdays cache. In which case it is surprising they weren’t listed before today
We appreciate the efforts the team puts into improving HA and 99.9% of the time the changes are welcome additions. However, the update to the media player changes are unwelcome, at least for our use case.
We use Kodi for our TV channels provided by a PVR via a network tuner. Up until today along with the many great things HA provides, we also use HA as our TV remotes. The ability to browse media, including PVR/kodi provided channels is now broke. Now the media browsing ability, which we used to select channels, is broke. Clicking the tiny “browse media” button results in a “Media browsing error, Unknown error”. The new large video box might be ok for a video I guess, but for static pix like a channel icon it only shows a chunk of the pic. Not really helpful or good looking.
I get that this is the new version and it appears to be geared towards music but it’s really not suited for playing video/PVR.
Please, please, please give us the option to chose the old version if we want it.
We’ve reverted back to 2025.9.4 in the hopes we can get the old version back. In the mean time I’ll be spending the next few hours repairing all the zigbee devices that don’t like being rolled back…
The original media player looked like this. Nice & clean
Sure… but you could also do that to replace the particular “Done” or “Turned on the Lights” message with the beep in the first place. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to ask that the new beep called by default be customizable.
does anyone know if JLo has made the automation or blueprint he was playing with on the live stream yesterday? That doorbell automation is just what I was working on that day. actually just a camera notification automation, but that looked way better than what I was doing.
well that looked promising, but after thorough testing, there is no double tap trigger happening with my pico 5 button remote, and no firmware updates available for my hub or remotes in the Lutron app. Looks like we will have to wait for some documentation for the feature, maybe at least which devices have double-tap.
Like the media player controls, was it a request that orignated from the users, or are these things just done to keep the releases from running dry? Like the backup encryptions a while back, no one had asked for that, but still it was made mandatory. And had to be reverted in coming releases.
12 years, HA should be a mature product with a clear road map for coming versions. Where is that road map located?
