Together with the new December ’25 release, a new functionality appeared:
Downstream Water Tracking
I had many water devices already configured in the Energy Dashboard.
Not all of my water meters are added to the Energy Dashboard configuration, so I tried to test this feature on some unused water devices but I cannot configure them.
Even if I remove a water device that was previously configured in the dashboard, I still cannot configure it again.
Could you please help me?

Devices can only have other individual devices as upstream (not the main water meters). Do you have mulitple individual devices configured?
Yes, I have about 50 end water devices in HA, few sub-meter water meters (for cold and hot water for some areas) and one main supply. I try each of them without success.
Right now under " Water consumption" section I have only 50% (about 25) of end water meters configured as shown on picture. Second part of end-water meters (~25 devices) and all sub-meters and main are not configured in this section.
In the top right of the energy settings page there is a button that says download diagnostics, can you attach that?

So according to this you haven’t yet added any devices as individual water devices.
Only individual water devices can be selected as upstream devices, so you must add some individual devices before you can see any options there.
PS. Not sure important but due to temporary fail one of my many WM-Bus readers I have some end-water device configured in energy dashboard in such status
Thank you for explain, maybe I was not feel technical background of the solution and this was reason why I expected other way of config.
After add one “stream” from end water meters to source then nothing
I believe “red” stream from my custom Sankey will looks similar but unfortunately no, can you please look on my current config (the same link as earlier) and tell me why?
