2025.8 breaks unify Protect Integration Cloudkey Gen2 Plus

With 2025.8 an API key is required to use the integration Unifi Protect. I have unifi protect running seperately on the CloudKey Gen2 Plus.
The network unifi OS runs seperately on the controller.
The latter has the option to create a API key under …/Settings/Integrations. However, there is no such option in when logged in locally in the CloudKey Gen2 Plus. It just shows “empty” with no reference to create a user API Key.
I have tried to use the API from the controller but then I get a login error.
→ Anybody a clue how to create an user API via ssh in unifi Protect, not using the Gui?

So this was “my bad” as indicated on several forums, you need to edited under Users (in unifi portal) your Role associated to the User that is used to log in to the Protect integration in HomeAssistant. In my case, my Role for the unifi user logged into HomeAssisant was set to “custom”. So when editing this User in unify and reversing all checkboxes “SuperAdmin” appeared, which I selected then saved. Amazingly, when reloading HomeAssistant Protect Integration, it creates the API Key automatically (kudo’s for the devs!) So you do not have to do anything if you have an existing Protect setup in home assistant, just “Reload” your Protect integration in HomeAssistant when you have changed your User Role in unify to “SuperAdmin”

so you can automatically regenerate the API key in this way, but how, in the instance above would you be able to generate the API key in the first place when there is no option for it in the local unifi controller UI?
