Hi ,
i am currently trying to build a better control for my floor heating.
The floor heating is equipped with a 3-way motor valve with a open/closing time of 140s.
What i am trying to do, i want to calculate a desired flow temperature based on the outside temperature.
I want to use a PID control to switch 2 relays (OPEN/CLOSE).
the valve should open slowly (act for max 10s in 1 min) to be sure not to overshoot.
Has anyone of you built something in ESPHome?
Would be happy to see how you solved that.
Normally floor heating systems have a large inertia component, which can make simple systems overshoot the set point both ways, so temperature control is not consistent. How noticable this is to people varies.
These systems have difficulty in dealing with rapid changes in set point (night setback) and external environment (sunlight heating).
How do you plan on measuring your new controller is actually better?
has the info on how to control a GPIO to do what you say you want.
