3-Zone Thermostat recommendation

Hi All,

I am also wanting to get rid of the dumb thermostats in my house and replace them with HA-ready units.

However, my house has 3 zones. (1st and 2nd floor and an office) We have one heating/AC unit. So, do I need to buy 3 new thermostats at $175-ish each?

Or is there a better/cheaper way?

Mike.

No, you can buy $180 ones instead…
Are those thermostats commanding zone valves?

You do not need three full smart thermostats. For single HVAC with dampers, get one primary smart thermostat ~$175–250 ecobee Premium + two ecobee SmartSensors or compatible remote sensors for the other zones total under $400 and fully HA I ntegrated.

So, if I get an ecobee premium, it will be smart (and connected) enough to control 3 zones? I’m assuming that there would be wiring for N number of zones? How’s that work?

I’ll be doing the wiring myself, so I REALLY need to understand this.

Thanks again,
Mike.
