I'm an owner-builder who is trying to design and build my home to be a smart home from the start.
For now that means trying to get as many devices and fittings on PoE so that I can save on electrician installs at build and battery replacements (ever).
Are there any good sites with great search filters that can help find HA-compat devices and I can narrow the results down to specific requirements, like PoE-data, PoE-power, and onboard recharging battery back-up, etc?
I'd like such a site to help find specific devices, but also to browse what's available and possible. I can't be the only builder in the late 2020s wanting this??
If there were, it would be out of date tomorrow. And what works for me is likely not to be what you want.
A few tips:
You can never have too much Ethernet.
CAT6 is more than you will ever need.
NEVER believe the device manufacturer's claim that you have to buy their hub.
Avoid buying a device that requires the Internet just to function. (Note many do require a one-time connection to obtain an API key or other authorization during installation).
