Access Home assistant from outside my local network

Hello everyone,

I create this thread to get help for having access to my HA while i’m outside of my home.

Here is my setup :

  • Home assistant installed on a RPi3 b+ (static IP)
  • A home server running debian 11 with wireguard installed on it and running well.
  • My phone (android) permanently connected to my home server through the wireguard tunnel for accessing my nextcloud and other services.

Today my VPN connection works well with my home server. And home assistant works well while i’m home too !

But on my phone (VPN connected) the home assistant app can’t find any server on the network. If i try to add the adress manually, the app says “error code -6 ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED”

I think that the problem is related with the fact that the VPN to acces my local network and the home assistant server are on two separates machines ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Matt

EDIT : found the solution. just add the ip of my PI to the allowed IP list on my wireguard config.
