Live Activities in the Companion app are great, but they can’t have buttons – tapping one only opens a URL. Actionable notifications already support actions; reusing them for Live Activities would allow things like “Mute alarm” / “Stop timer” for an EV charging countdown, “Pause” for the washing machine or “Unlock” for the door – right from the lock screen and the Dynamic Island. iOS supports interactive Live Activities since iOS 17 (App Intents).
