Adaptive lighting + Z2M + Hue dimmer v2

Hi there,

I’m hoping some genius out there can point me in the right direction.

I’ve FINALLY set up my HA green with Sonoff ZBdongle-E running Zigbee2mqtt and all my devices are up and running.

My goal is to get my 4 hue dimmers (v2) to behave as they should by default. Ie—
button 1: on/off
buttons 2&3: dim up/down
button 4: cycle preset scenes eg ‘concentrate, energise, read, relax, rest’

I want the hue dimmer V2 to behave as it does out of the box, but also, I want it to incorporate Adaptive Lighting. Adaptive lighting should only occur with button 1, all other buttons should override AL until button 1 is pressed again.

These seems like it should be straightforward but it’s not. I’ve investigated:

  1. binding the controller directly to the light/group of lights in Z2M—this gets buttons 1-3 working but encounters issues with AL

  2. Using a blueprint for controller and hook: Controller - Philips 929002398602 Hue Dimmer switch v2 | Awesome HA Blueprints

  3. Setting the whole thing up from scratch: following, for instance, tutorials like this: https://youtu.be/L-bcabdaMxE?si=g6Arvb1A0XOB2YTL

  4. Some combination of the above.

Can anyone suggest the best path forward? My lights seem to be receiving clashing signals and are just not behaving as I expected.

Many thanks in advance!

Brooke

Hi Brooke,
I have a pretty similar setup to yours (ZB-Dongle E, Zigbee2MQTT and Hue Dimmer Switch) and I try to achieve something similar

What I manage to setup more or less consistently is buttons 1-3. Even with AL I haven’t had any issues yet. But what I absolutely don’t manage to set up is the usage of button 4.

Maybe you made some progress in the last weeks? Or we can somehow manage to figure it out together???

…or someone else finds this thread now and can help?

Cheers,
Allis
