I have had multiple instances of history corruption due to power outages or silly software things like patch tuesday rebooting the host unattended, and hence the HAOS VM.
I don’t always notice that the history is corrupt right away. It often takes at least a few days. At that point, many configuration changes may have been made to HA. I find myself in the situation of having backups a few days old, with outdated configuration and history, or the most recent backup with no history. My preference is to keep the latest config, and restore the old history, thus losing only the last few days of history.
The current UI for restoring backups, as of 2025.2.4, looks like this :
I believe there should be a separate checkbox for history, so that it would be possible to uncheck the other boxes, and only restore the history.
Note that it is possible to restore the history manually using SSH. See Restoring history database after patch tuesday . I believe it should be easier, though.
