Add it how? What is it you hope to accompish using the date helper?
It is an entity holding a date and/or time, you can basically do anything with it that you can do with other entities that are changeable. You can change it from within a script or automation, and you can trigger automations when it changes. You can also display it and edit it in dashboard cards.
The desire is to have an automation that kicks off on a specific date. I can’t figure out how you enter in the Visual Editor. Is it used as a trigger or condition and how to enter it.
In the trigger section select Time from the pull-down, then click to select the “Value of a date/time helper” option, and fill in your helper’s id/name in the field that appears.

Thanks, reading the basic’s wasn’t really doing it until your advice and a fresh look at it registered that I needed to set the date in the helper section of the overview screen. I understand condition vs trigger it was how to use the helper itself that was eluding me. It has been a long couple of days of getting my Insteon infrastructure running back to and better than it was.
