Add-ons don't show up on the sidebar - except for HACS

I installed HAOS (in a VM) somewhat recently. I’ve always thought it was odd that it’s such a pain to use add-ons like the file browser: to use any of these, I need to navigate to Settings > Add-ons > (pick the applicable add-on) > Open Web UI. This workflow always seemed super bizarre to me.

Well, today after installing the Frigate Proxy add-on, I’ve learned that all of these add-ons are supposed to spawn sidebar items, but they have never done that on my installation of HAOS - except for the HACS store (which I’ve always assumed did some sort of unusual magic to add itself).

Has anyone seen this happen before? Do you know how to fix it? This has persisted through countless restarts, version upgrades, and mobile/desktop apps - ever since my initial install back sometime in October/November 2024. I’ve literally never seen a sidebar item for a non-HACS add-on, ever.

Current versions (although this has been happening for months):
HAOS 15.0
Supervisor 2025.03.4
Core 2025.3.4
I am using default_config.

A lot of add-ons don’t.

In the add-on configuration, see if there is an option to ‘show in sidebar’, and turn that on.

Well, that was a bit stupid on my part - I never noticed that toggle on the ones that do offer it. (Strangely, HACS doesn’t - I guess it’s permanently on the sidebar?)

Thanks for the help!
