Add passive device to group times out - what to do?

Hi experts,

I am having difficulty adding Aquara Smoke Detectors (JY-GZ-01AQ/SD-S01D) to a group in Zigbee2Mqtt. Since it is a passive device it does not respond before the request times out.

I have a blueprint that links the alarms together so that when one goes off all go off. This however requires the detectors to be in groups and I have no idea how to achieve this since adding them constantly times out.

Any ideas?

Add the group in Home Assistant instead of in z2m.

Or press all the smoke detector test buttons simultaneously then immediately try saving the z2m group.
