Adding a Remote Voice PE device

As per the title, I have a Voice PE device that is accessible via VPN, can be pinged etc etc etc.

When I add the device and provide the IP Address I am prompted to enter the encryption key, but I cannot find that anywhere or any settings menu to display it.

Any suggestions ??

I found a key in the .storeage → esphome devices but that does not work, and I am guessing that is just the device ID and not the encryption key ?

Add the device using your phone and the HA companion app. I had the same issue but using the app sorts out the credentials for you.

Dave, Thanks, but I have been unable to connect using the companion app on IOS for several months, even after deleting the app and data and re-downloading & installing again I always get the same error:

Description:

Even connection to the ip address instead of my local (.home) domain gives the same error, and yes that url / ip address and port is open and running HA and I can connect without any problem at all using curl or a browser.

Any ideas on that one

Is this a widespread problem? Code, bugs, inadequate documentation, confused new users, changing vendor API’s, new authentication requirements, deprecated code, breaking changes, bad AI suggestions being offered?

Just seem to have seen a lot of these questions in the last few days with Remote Voice PE, and hope the issue is well in hand.

Is it the solutions have been discovered but not fed back in these forums as working for others to find the solution for themselves, or AI bots to spider?

Check your Home Assistant URL values in the network settings.

Thanks, see here as to avoid duplication of q&a: Cannot connect to HA in Companion App via Internal URL · Issue #3608 · home-assistant/iOS · GitHub

Dave, how did you add it, I have tried adding it while using the OSX companion app, but still get prompted for the key.

I added it by using the ESP Home integration add device and entering the IP address of the PE Voice which is on another subnet and remote.

Then prompted to enter the key.

I used the Android companion app. After telling it what wifi credentials to use it sorted the rest out for me.
