Adding my cell phone into my local HASS

  1. I have a Ring camera in my RV parked 1 mile away.
  2. I have a cell phone in the RV with its Hotspot turned on.
  3. My Ring camera is connected to the Hotspot
  4. I want to be able to add my remote cell phone into my local HASS to keep an eye on its battery.
  5. Is this possible?

I was considering using HASS Cloud, but after reading a bunch, I am not sure if it can do this. My use case is not to remote into my local Home Assistant, but to add a remote device to my local Home Assistant

Maybe install Tailscale both ends and expose a subnet on the RV end?

If the phone has the HA app installed and your local system has Mobile App integration, the phone’s status is visible as long as both devices are online.

I’m not understanding your solution.

My remote phone is not registering in my local HASS.

I am wondering, how is my remote phone supposed to connect to my local HASS if it is not connected to my local wifi? I must be missing something.

Can HASS Cloud to this?

In other words, if I sign up for it, could my remote phone connect to my local HASS?

If so, would that do the same thing as Tailscale?

Yes, using the cloud will do it. You then need to install the HA app on the phone.

Yep - I was thinking you wanted HA to access the camera, but if you just want battery status this will work.
