I currently have three IoTaWatt units that I love, plus a couple random Sonoff devices flashed with Tasmota (that I don’t love) for individual plug loads. I have plenty of Shelly equipment as well, but they don’t seem to have something that meets my needs here. Unfortunately, I have exceeded the capacity on the IoTaWatts and need to measure some additional circuits/sub-circuits. I currently need ~5 additional inputs in one location (or a 2,3 split), and have a few other locations where 2-4 load capacity would be nice. I do not want control (which is what kills Shelly for me), and I do want multiple-circuit monitoring to limit total device count.
Something the size of a Shelly2PM that can fit inside a 4" electrical box (without switching, and ideally with three circuit support) would be ideal. Does such a product exist?
My concern is these are for a chest freezer and refrigerators, along with a driveway gate. I don’t want the physical possibility that MQTT or a firmware update could shut them off.
I think I am going to end up going with something like an Anthom.Tech unit; they have both 2 and 6 channel tasmota and esphome devices. It isn’t perfect; I will need 6x6" boxes to host them, but it is better than needing an extra 4 devices and managing wifi for them all.
