AdGuard does not affect my PC

Dear Community - i have setup AdGuard and it also shows the DNS-Request and the blocked thru filters.

But im perplexed since on my Desktop-PC i can still open websites that should be blocked - now i assume i did some mistake with the setup, any ideas?

Please give more details about the setup.

I have a Fritzbox 6670 Cable (provider T-Magenta / austrian Telecom), and a HomeAssistantGreen.

I followed the AdGuard setup, went into fritzbox to the local IPv4 and IPv6 DNS and set the local DNS servers to the IP of HA. And in AdGuard i did setup the blockedlists & Sites.

Does this fit what you need to know?

if you do nslookup google.com from a terminal on the pc, what is the output? Should be similar to this, the first ip address should be your ad guard ip.

It shows the IPv6 - i also checked its not the local-IPv6 that i added in the router

Alright, then it’s probably some setting in ad guard. I don’t use ad guard so I can’t help you with that unfortunately.

What did explicitly write on your fritzbox @Grafhugo ?
Whats 1st and 2nd dns and did you state them for ipv4 and for ipv6?

See what I mean (I use other dns entries, dont get confused by them)

also: What dns does your Desktop use? have you tried “overriding them manually” to make sure your PC is forced to use the Fritz DNS?

I know chrome browser bypasses pihole by locking in its own DNS. I assume it’ll do the same for adguard

The

Is not using the man-in-the-middle DNS address that that software provides. You have to give up control of where you look for addresses so that the adguard can decide for you what is safe.
