ADS-B Tracker for Home Assistant

Airplanes Live - ADS-B Tracking for Home Assistant (Beta Testers Wanted)

Hi everyone,

I recently created a new Home Assistant integration focused entirely on ADS-B aircraft tracking called Airplanes Live .

I originally started contributing a lot of new features to the FlightRadar24 integration to help the repository owner, but during that process I received requests for an integration focused purely on raw ADS-B data and live aircraft tracking. So I decided to build a dedicated integration for it.

The integration is still evolving quickly and I’m currently looking for beta testers and feedback to help improve stability, features, and aircraft detection.

GitHub repository:GitHub - DonTranQuiL/ADSB-For-Home-assistant: An ADSB integration for Home Assistant · GitHub
I have a lot of other integrations on my repository as well.

Current goals/features:

  • Live ADS-B aircraft tracking
  • Device tracker entities for aircraft
  • Aircraft classification
  • Better filtering and distance handling
  • Lightweight alternative focused on ADS-B data
  • Continuous feature development

If you test it, feedback, bug reports, feature ideas, and PRs are all welcome.

Thanks!

Just curious, what do you automate with this data?

As someone in this space, what’s your goal?

Alerts I’d guess?

Do you live on an airport community and want to know when your friends are landing?

Is it to alert to monitoring (say a same target loitering within 3-4nm radius of you) just keep in mind many who have ISR capabilities have a waiver to go negative ADSB on mission

If it’s for noise “complaints” well… no lol

Cool, that's exactly what I was looking for. Getting a notification directly is way nicer than hastily trying to open a web page to figure out which rescue helicopter is the one that is currently flying over my house

I wrote my own that sends low level military alerts from my PiAware tracker to my phone. Gives me a picture, callsign (or tail number) , make, model, owner and a few other details. I'll take a look at this though. It also does it as a TTS which can be amusing when I'm in meetings!

Just curious why would you care which rescue helicopter is operating?

General curiosity?
