Advantages of migrating - are there any?

Hi,

currently i have a plain homeassistant installation on my homeserver (a HP N40L) running Debian Stretch. “Plain” means: Installed via pip, self-written systemd unit file, everything works great.

Are there any advantages when i migrate to a manual installation of hass.io? I’d like to achieve co-existence between home assistant and every other software already running on the homeserver, but maybe easier maintenance is worth the migration? Or is the maintenance compareable to the plain installation?
