Advice on nanoleaf integration

Hi all,

I apologise in advance for the probably very naive questions, but I’m a bit lost about how best to integrate my Shapes + Skylights into HA.

I had been adding them using the iOS App, and then using the HA Nanoleaf integration, and it was working pretty well, but then my skylight stopped responding (it was offline in the nanoleaf app too). After some mucking around, I decided to reset it and try to add it directly using matter with the HA companion app… but I could not get this to work. I’m pretty confused about matter in general, but I thought that anything matter related did not NEED to be added by a vendor-specific app … is this not true?

My second question is how to stop the nanoleaf app having duplicate devices. So for example, I see two sets of Shapes in my study, one on v12.0.3 and the other on v12.3.2. If I look at them in the nanoleaf app settings the former has “light.shapes_XXXX” as its serial number and Connection type is Apple Home. Whilst the latter (v12.3.2) is a real serial number and connection type “Wi-Fi”.

Thanks!

Duplicate devices are a new glitch in the Nanoleaf app in my experience. they started showing up about a month ago. Maybe maybe related to using both Home and Home Assistant? I don’t know.

I will say that Essentials bulbs that are NOT matter capable are really terrible in my experience, requiring almost weekly re-binding. In contrast all my panels are rock solid for more than a year now.

Don’t own a skylight, but if it’s more related to pre-Matter essentials than panels, I wouldn’t expect much reliability from it.

Skylight is fairly new, but after working well for a year or so, it now seems to be permanently offline in the nanoleaf app. :frowning:
