I have an Aotec Multisensor 6 since about two months now. It’s placed indoors with no direct sunlight exposure.
I haven’t been getting any UV readings aside from “0” the whole time.
Does it need to be outdoors and exposed to direct sunlight to detect UV or is there a setting that I’d need to activate?
Yep. Unless it’s sitting outside or behind a single glazed window without any filtering (which you’d only see in a really old house) you’re not going to get any readings. I’m not sure if the sensor itself can be tweaked in ZWave to be more sensitive, but I just ended up removing that sensor from my cards.
Nope. I have two of them and I looked into it a bit and the overwhelming majority of answers was that unless it’s in direct sunlight, there won’t be any readings inside. I did look at the Aeotec site just now and found this:
UV Sensor (Notes).
The UV Sensor is most likely not able to read any UV readings indoors, most UV rays are absorbed by windows, therefore limiting the UV index to around 0. If you want to see UV readings, you must open the window, and leave the sensor pointed upwards underneath the open window or temporarily place it outdoors to gather UV readings.
So I don’t think there is a way to tweak it either.
