Aeotec Range Extender Zi Issues

Hello all - I’m wondering if anyone here had issues with the Aeotec Range Extender Zi? I had 3 of them, and they worked find until the 2024.02 core update. When that update hit, but Zigbee network went down, and I traced it to the Range Extender Zi - removing them from the network and reconfiguring (via UI) my devices worked well. Later I tried adding one of them back onto the network, and it created the same issues - a bunch of zigbee devices (including devices not connected via the range extender) went down.

I do like using them - I haven’t found a device that works as well. WAF for them is also fairly good, they are small and square and white — I don’t think putting Sonoff dongles flashed with router firmware is in the cards for me.

For the time being I replaced them with Thirdreality smart plugs, but signal strength from those plugs is noticeably worse - a lot more “red and gray” connections in my network map in ZHA.

Did you find a resolution to this? I was converting my Z-Wave (mostly Aeotec sensors) from a Aeotec Smarthings hub over to HA using Zoom 800 and right after I installed the core update I lost the ability to add Aeotec devices via network scan. For the ones that I still have the QR codes they seem to work. Anyone have an idea?

I did not - I ended up using a sonoff coordinator flashed with router firmware instead - it actually worked substantially better than the zi coordinator did.

That said, Aeotec sensors make up the majority of my config, I also moved from SmartThings, They add fine however, I have had minimal issues. Home assistant still supports adding by QR code for a zwave devices, so i assume you are referring to the Zigbee debices - on those some of them needed a manual reset before they would show up.
