After an update last week it appears that ~10 Jasco devices that had Security (S2) enabled are lost. There are still some S2 devices functioning though, including other Jasco switches. They all state “This entity is no longer being provided by the zwave_js integration. If the entity is no longer in use, delete it in settings.” and their label is empty.
I appear to have two Z-Wave JS entries now, neither showing errors. I think it’s unrelated but I’ve got a Smart Things device in the house as well but I don’t think it’s related. Zwave JS UI is also installed but disabled.
I’ve been messing around with this for a week and haven’t been able to fix it. I know I can delete and re-add the devices but being a tech engineer with 25 years of experience I’m getting to the lazy and annoyed age where I don’t want to fix something without knowing the cause since taking screwless face plates off the wall is irritating.
Has anyone got an insight or ideas into what might be going on? Or do I just suck it up and exclude/include?
I really appreciate the response . I think they’re showing up as two hubs (I may have the vernacular wrong here though). They each seem to have the same amount of devices but differing numbers of entities, and the devices aren’t working in either hub.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this posted somewhere as a bug (I can’t remember where) and the solution was to just delete the newly added extraneous hub.
I’m assuming that you don’t actually have two zwave radio’s or two zwave js servers in you system correct?
also as an FYI if you don’t tag me (by adding the @finity tag) or click on the reply button in my post I won’t know you replied to me. Not a big deal but it just means I have to stumble on the reply later and guess if you are talking to me or not.
@finity thanks. There’s definitely only one Zwave stick on the system (Zooz 800 LR) that is on latest FW 1.50. I’ve got an old SmartThings box that is linkedin to provide access to some Samsung and Zigbee devices. I don’t think that’s what’s spawning the extra ZWave hub, but I could be wrong.
I deleted the extraneous hub and restarted the system, there are now more devices missing. I’ve got a nagging feeling that being new to this I borked the initial setup somehow and just have to start from scratch. (Home Assistant Green here, so I’m not sure how I messed it up but I did take a crack at migrating devices over from SmartThings when I first started this in December)
Are you using the official zwavejs add-on installed by the supervisor to provide the zwavejs server or are you using the zwavejs-ui add-on (or even a standalone Docker container)?
if you are using the zwavejs-ui server you can go directly to the server itself to see what devices it knows about.
@finity I was using the standard ZwaveJS addon that came with the supervisor. I was looking at zwaveJS-UI to try and get a better understand of the routes that the nodes were taking but never actually switched over to it. I’ve removed JS-UI now so it’s not present on the system. There were no devices listed in JS-UI before I removed it. It’s interesting how inconsistent this is, I’m seeing some devices dropping and others coming back, so I’m wondering now if this some type of radio interference issue.
@finity so I’m deeply grateful for the help, I still have no idea WTF was going but here’s what I did. I moved the Zwave stick (which was already on a 4ft USB extender) away from the equipment rack as a whole and not just away from the HA Green/Pi. It’s got 3ft of distance now and up by floor joists Problem still wasn’t fixed but this time I grabbed the first zwave node (Jasco switch) that wasn’t working, told it to rebuild routes, and then reinterviewed the node. All nodes are now back online.
I’m still not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but apparently that was doing something right.
