Aire Conditioner Automation CN16 port ESP32

Hi! I’m trying to connect to the CN16 port of a TCL air conditioner that has the famous CN16 port.

I tried this and the “midea” platform without luck

CN16 PIN 1 (+5V) --------±—> ESP32 VIN (or external 5V)
|
±—> 10kΩ pull-up to CN16 RX (pin 4) [simulates module presence]

CN16 PIN 2 (GND) ---------> ESP32 GND

CN16 PIN 3 (TX) —10kΩ—±-- ESP32 RX (GPIO16)
|
20kΩ
|
GND

CN16 PIN 4 (RX) ---------> ESP32 TX (GPIO17)

any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry for my ignorance, but do you have evidence that TCL is compatible with “midea family”?

no evidence. I open to hear any suggestions. :frowning:

Update: I discarted the pull-up nonsense and installed a 3.3 to 5V board.

Neither do I.
Midea has modern “giga factories” that manufacture AC units for hundreds of different brands form some local unknown brands to some globally known like Bosch.
Gree does the same thing.
Does TCL make ACs or buy them from somewhere? I’m not 100% sure, but I would bet that they manufacture them. Do they collaborate with midea or buy some parts/design from them? I don’t know.

@wagenerwerner I just purchased a Rovsun 9000 BTU mini split that has a very similar wiring diagram. Were you able to make any progress?
