Still nothing in core as of 2026.8 as far as I can tell — there is no reminder
intent, and the nearest pieces do not fit: timers are relative-only,
satellite-bound and carry no message, and the list intents carry no time.
I ended up building it as custom sentences plus an intent_script, with a
Local To-do list as the store, and wrote it up here: Voice reminders for Assist, with the time worked out in Jinja rather than by an LLM
The part that surprised me is that it is better not to let the LLM parse the
time. Asked for an ISO timestamp, an 8B model gave me the right time of day in
the wrong year, and in 2 of 6 attempts it skipped the tool call entirely and
told me it had set a reminder that did not exist. All the date arithmetic is in
Jinja now.
