Hi all,
The connection between Alexa and HA break. I think this happened I updated HA with the last version. Is this not the first time, and its getting annoying.
Any idea how this can be fixed?
PS: I am a lawyer, so no IT background. I know nothing about coding. And honesty I started to regret I started this journey with Home Assistant. It requires so much time and it breakes all the time.
Please help!
This is the downside of relying on Alexa. Amazon regularly makes unannounced changes to the API’s that break things. Based on the other threads here and discussions on the AMP repo, it looks like Amazon has removed an API endpoint required for the (re)authentication process.
The only thing you can do is wait until the volunteer devs identify a fix, implement it through the git process, and the updates are released. Custom integrations like Alexa Media Player will often post updates whenever they are ready, while core integrations like Alexa Devices will be updated when Core updates post (which is usually on Fridays).
It’s okay if HA isn’t for you, but cast the blame where it belongs. A multi-billion dollar company made a huge gamble on voice assistants by selling them below cost for nearly a decade without a solid path to monetize them. The vast majority of Alexa use events do not generate revenue for Amazon, in fact they likely cost Amazon some small amount. HA users likely have a significantly higher number of use events than the average Alexa-only user, making them more costly. Now that they have bled out hundreds of millions of dollars on the project, they have been systematically reducing the functionality of Alexa in order to staunch the flow… and, possibly, to make subscription-based Alexa+ more appealing.

This is working for me today. I was able to re-authenticate to Amazon.
