I don’t want to play anything from Alexa, I just want to use Alexa to switch things off an on.

I looked at the Integration Alexa Devices, but it seems to assume that an authenticator is being used. I am quite happy with Amazon texting me… I don’t want to use an authenticator.

So, I installed Home Assistant skill in Alexa. It wanted the Nabu Casa account, and it is linked.

However it doesn’t find any devices.

Is this the correct way to add Alexa support?

The only way to get alexa devices in HA is to use the integration. The Skill only supplies home assistant devices to alexa.

Unfortunately, this means you’ll need to use an authenticator as the integration doesn’t have the ability to authenticate with any other method. It’s a reverse engineered API and we can only do so much with it.
