Alexa Keeps Failing with Nabu Casa when IPv6 is enabled since Upgrade to 2026.9.3

I upgraded and skipped over the first few releases of 2026.9.x as I usually do hoping that any major issues would be fixed quickly. However, this time, when I upgraded I noticed that when trying to use Alexa to turn things on and off it stopped working. I then decided to check my Nabu Casa cloud connection and noticed that it was not fully connecting. I then logged out and tried to log back in and it timed out. Found an article that says this is a common issue and to disable IPv6 reboot, login, then enable IPv6 again, and I thought I was good. Everything worked for the time, but the next morning it was back to the way it was before. Followed the same steps again and even cleared my cloud data this time hoping that would fix things. Again it worked initially but then stopped yet again with the issue being the connection with Nabu Casa. Finally to get things stable I just disabled IPv6 because I don’t currently use any Matter or Thread devices, but if I eventually want to this issue will prevent that from working.

My system is a VM on ESXi with plenty of drive space and more than enough memory.

For networking I have a PFSense box and nothing changed there that could have caused this problem.

Clearly something has changed with regards to IPv6 in HA that needs additional or different configuration to keep it stable. I’ve checked the release notes and did not see any kind of breaking change and I have thoroughly looked through the forums and found plenty of issues around IPv6, but nothing that relates to what I am experiencing.

Hopefully someone can help me find exactly where the issue may reside. I’m not saying something is not configured wrong on my PFSense that is now only showing up with a change to HA. Just need to understand what if any change was made and how to configure for it going forward.
