I’m migrating my home from the Bali Gateway Pro (Ezlo e450-US) to Home Assistant and have run into a problem excluding the first shade.
Environment
- Home Assistant OS
- Core 2026.7.2
- Z-Wave JS
- Zooz ZST39 800LR USB controller
- Firmware 1.70
- Bali Gateway Pro (Ezlo e450-US)
- Bali AutoView rechargeable Z-Wave shades (17 total)
- Rechargeable battery pack: Inventus Power Model 39-5595-00
Goal
Move all Bali shades from the Bali Gateway to Home Assistant.
My understanding is the proper process should be:
- Exclude from Bali network
- Include into Home Assistant
What I’ve tried
In Home Assistant:
Settings → Devices & Services → Z-Wave → Options → Remove Foreign Device
Home Assistant enters exclusion mode successfully.
At the shade:
- Hold the motor programming button.
- Around 5 seconds the LED turns green.
- Around 7 seconds the shade jogs.
- Release immediately after the jog.
This appears to exactly match the Bali documentation for network exclusion.
Problem
Home Assistant never reports detecting a device.
It simply remains on:
Ready to remove device…
until I cancel.
The Bali Gateway continues to control the shade normally afterward.
Additional Information
- The Zooz controller is installed in my structured wiring rack in the basement.
- The shade is one floor above.
- There are currently no other Z-Wave devices on the new Home Assistant network, so there is no mesh yet.
- The Bali Gateway still communicates with the shade without issue.
Questions
- Has anyone successfully migrated Bali AutoView rechargeable Z-Wave shades from the Bali Gateway (Ezlo) to Home Assistant?
- Does the Bali motor require a different exclusion procedure than:
- LED green (~5 s)
- jog (~7 s)
- release
- Is controller proximity critical for exclusion with these shades, or should network-wide exclusion work from another floor?
- Would it be better to exclude the shade using the Bali Gateway first, then include it in Home Assistant?
Any advice from someone who has migrated these specific shades would be greatly appreciated.
