Ambient weather without weather station

Do you have to have your own weather station for this to work? I added one to my dashboard that is very close to my home, I thought it would bring in that data.

The intigration https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/ambient_station/ does not tell me much…

No. You need your own PWS, or your neighbors’ api and app keys for it to report using the Ambient integration.
