Announcing Fuel Check - cheapest fuel in your area right on your dashboard!

If you live or travel in NSW, the ACT or Tasmania (Australia) read on.

With petrol prices so high what better than an at-a-glance look at local fuel prices right in your home assistant dashboard. Available in the home assistant community store, today I released an update to the home assistant integration “NSW Fuel Station Price”. This update adds:

  • Support for Tasmania
  • “Cheapest price” sensors for multiple locations like “Home”, “Work”, “Club”
  • Configuration via the user interface (not yaml)
  • Support for diesel and premium petrol

The idea is not to replace the NSW Fuel or FuelCheck TAS apps but give you a nudge everyday as you use your home assistant dashboard.

Please give it a go and your feedback and ideas are very welcome.

Installation instructions are here and and you can get an idea of what you will get from the user guide.

For those living near the border, have you considered the Victoria Servo Saver Public API to add a sneak peek across the border too?

This would greatly enhance your reach as it is a reality that odds and evens rarioning may come in shortly to save fuel and people near the border may benefit from that.

And now, by popular request, well ok 1, release v0.0.4 adds the ability to refine the search radius for fuel prices. This is probably most useful if you regularly commute a long distance and are only interested in stations close to your route. Sort of equivalent to the “My Trip” functionality in the official apps, but right there at a glance on your home assistant dashboard. Check the user guide for how to.

  1. Will it work cross border and show best prices across a radius that crosses borders?
    Canberra/Queanbeyan, Albury/Wodonga?
I’d drive 20km to save $50, even if it is Albo shekels. So would a lot of farmers with their machinery requirements.

  2. Does it support avgas yet? Asking for some recreational flyers…
