I keep getting a popup wanting me to select a method for tracking when I am home in the HA macOS app. The annoying part is that no matter which radio button I select nothing happens and the next time I launch the app I’ll see it again. How do I get rid of it?
Hi, is this in a browser and not on a mobile system with the companion app?
I think this is displayed at onboarding and once you set this option, you should not be asked for it anymore.
This is in the macOS companion app and I completed onboarding years ago. To be clear though, selecting an option and clicking the next button doesn’t do anything. The only option that works is to just close the popup window and then repeat the process the next time I open the app.
I’m using Nabu Casa for remote access. Have been for years. So no idea why I keep getting spammed when I open the app.
I raised a bug issue on GitHub. Maybe that’ll get some attention.
This is a new setting introduced recently in the companion app and I think you keep getting this option because you open HA in macOS.
Are you not using a mobile device with HA and I also guess that you will not get this when you access your system from a browser.
Why would the popup include a next button if it has no intended purpose and why create a companion app then recommend that it not be used? I’ll just hope that whatever the connection issue is gets resolved. Was just hoping there was some way to disable this popup.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding your post. I am only seeing this popup when I open the macOS companion app on my laptop.
The companion app is designed to run on a mobile OS and if you run it another way, with a system that does not handle location services the same way, you might get unexpected behavior.
I downloaded this app from the macOS App Store, not the iOS App Store.
I’m not using anything anymore from the fruit company but I’m quite sure that you installed the companion app that is designed to run on iOS and it makes sense that for that usecase you get that option from the screenshot you provided.
You have to understand the logic behind those options which doesn’t make sense on a non-mobile OS.
No. I just doublechecked. It was installed and receives updates from the macOS App Store. The description for the app shows that it is compatible with Mac computers as well as iPhones and tablets.
Here is an HA blog announcement for this app-
