I have an Edifier wifi speaker which is used to play web radio through Music Assistant.
On my dashboards, I use the Mini Media Player card that has a few shortcuts to specific radio stations, to control the playback.
That has always worked well untill the recent M.A. updates.
When I update from the working version 2.9.13 to anything higher, the Mini Media Player card disappears from my dashboards and the Edifier speaker is no longer available as an output device in M.A.
I’m a bit at a loss about the possible cause, as I’ve not had any issues with this setup.
Any thoughts?
Check your log for errors, your music assistant logs. They will appear in the app logs page or if you go to settgins → system → logs, change the dropdown from HA Core to Music assistant. That might have information you can provide to the devs (or it might point to a misconfiguration on your end).
Thanks for the tips, guys.
I’m a mechanic, not an IT person, so I do appreciate the help with this issue.
Up until now, my modest HA setup has been functioning well.
Guess I have a little bit more work - and research - to do.
Cheers.
A little update for those who might be curious:
Due to so major changes in naming devices and entities in past HA updates, the WiFi speaker was renamed from device to media player.
This caused the scripts to fail as the target device did no longer exist.
Also, cause still unknown to me, the speaker seemed to have had a twin brother (after the automatic renaming?) which did confuse me while reconfiguring Music Assistant.
It took me a while trying (and ‘errorring’) to get the correct device configured appropriately but it seems to be working again.
I found that the recent re-organisation of classifications in HA broke a lot of my automations/scripts and I had to go through them all to fix the device discrepancies.
The more complex HA becomes, the harder it is to keep track of all structural changes.
Reading the change notes on every update is not always enough to anticipate breaking changes.
