Anthbot Map v2.4.5 – Home Assistant integration and custom map card for ANTHBOT robotic mowers

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing Anthbot Map v2.4.5, an unofficial Home Assistant integration and bundled custom Lovelace map card for ANTHBOT robotic lawn mowers.

The integration connects Home Assistant to the ANTHBOT cloud, creates native monitoring and control entities, and includes the anthbot-map-card frontend. The card is installed and updated together with the integration.

Main features

  • Native Home Assistant lawn_mower entity
  • Fast live AWS IoT/MQTT shadow updates with automatic reconnection
  • Full-area, manual-zone and automatic-zone mowing
  • Outer-edge and dock-surroundings mowing
  • Pause, resume, stop and return-to-dock controls
  • Multiple mowers on one ANTHBOT account
  • Battery, charging, mower state, RTK, network, firmware and maintenance data
  • Lawn boundary, mowing zones and no-go zones
  • Live mowing path, covered area and previous mowing-history paths
  • Optional aerial or drone garden photograph as the map background
  • Fullscreen map, zoom, pan and rotation
  • Separate calibration for map, mower, path and boundary
  • Optional smart-plug Battery Saver, rain-aware task recovery and recurring Shutdown Guard
  • Per-mower custom card-button actions
  • 23 selectable interface languages

Supported models

  • ANTHBOT Genie: supported and directly tested
  • ANTHBOT M9 Pro: M-series map, control, status and history path directly hardware-tested
  • ANTHBOT M9: supported through the shared M-series implementation; not directly hardware-tested by this project yet
  • ANTHBOT M5: supported through the shared M-series implementation; not directly hardware-tested by this project yet

What’s new in v2.4.5

This stable release focuses on performance and stability while preserving the working mower controls and features from v2.4.4.

  • Filters repeated identical MQTT shadow fields and messages before they trigger unnecessary Home Assistant processing
  • Caches unchanged M-series path assembly and mowing-progress geometry instead of rebuilding them on every coordinator update
  • Coalesces task-event refreshes around real task-phase changes rather than cosmetic status chatter
  • Fixes the Genie task-event REST polling loop, so stable operation no longer downloads the event list every few seconds
  • Adds low-overhead runtime activity diagnostics to the existing Map entity; the changing diagnostic attribute is excluded from Recorder history
  • Makes manual_charge a short cloud-propagation grace phase with one delayed event recheck before settling into the correct Battery Saver phase
  • Preserves delayed low-battery, rain hold/resume and completion event handling
  • Preserves rain handling, Battery Saver, recurring Shutdown Guard, Genie/M-series model separation, map/path/zone/history support and custom controls

The result is a significant reduction in unnecessary background work and CPU activity, especially when mower data has not actually changed.

Performance validation

v2.4.5 was tested with two physical mowers — an ANTHBOT Genie 1000 and an M9 Pro — on Home Assistant Green.

  • Runtime diagnostics showed 0 task-event list downloads per minute during stable idle operation after the Genie polling fix
  • 120-second Home Assistant profiler tests showed no Anthbot runaway or busy loop
  • The same no-runaway result was observed on the main development/test system

Requirements

  • Home Assistant 2024.1.0 or newer
  • HACS for the recommended installation
  • A working ANTHBOT account
  • Internet access to the ANTHBOT cloud

Installation with HACS

Add the following repository under HACS → Integrations → Custom repositories:

https://github.com/Mqbretrofit/ha-anthbot-map-v2

Select Integration, add the repository, install Anthbot Map, and restart Home Assistant.

Then go to:

Settings → Devices & services → Add integration → Anthbot Map

The bundled map card is normally registered automatically. A minimal card configuration is:

type: custom:anthbot-map-card
entity: sensor.YOUR_MOWER_map
name: Anthbot Map

Important migration note

Do not run Anthbot Map at the same time as vincentjanv/anthbot_genie_ha, the AdrianTIonut fork, or another ANTHBOT Home Assistant integration. Concurrent integrations can open competing cloud sessions and send conflicting commands to the same mower.

Disable the previous integration’s config entry, restart Home Assistant, and then add Anthbot Map. The previous integration can remain installed for rollback.

Feedback, diagnostics and real-hardware reports from additional mower models are very welcome.
