Anyone have ideas on Kichler landscape transformer integration?

Had landscape lighting installed last year and am now getting into HA.

I see the “smart” part of the transformer is just a plug in module (here). When I check the router DHCP, it shows up as a Tuya Smart device. However, it uses it’s own app and there’s an Alexa integration that I use to control it.

Has anyone been able to get this to work with HA besides just tossing the Kichler device and replacing it with another outdoor smart plug (wi-fi, ZWave, Zigbee)?

I’ve done lots of Google searching, and that seems to be the only option?

If the smarts is just a smart plug, replace it with a zwave plug/switch or esp plug/relay/switch.

I got one working with HA via the Tuya integration, you can just use the Kichler Connects app to get the required info since it’s just a Tuya app with Kichler branding. I think I used the LocalTuya integration from HACS, but it shouldn’t matter which one you use.

I install these regularly for work and just got curious.

Try it in the Smart Life app. That natively works and is how I got another Tuya based landscape lighting setup in HA.

Thanks @HappyCadaver and @Nameless, that was going to be my next attempt!

So just grab the Tuya app, create an account and put it in pairing mode? Is it really that easy? Fingers crossed!

LOL! Just tried it - Tuya app threw up because I have a space in my IoT wi-fi PW…

Time for another SSID…

(Strange since Kichler was fine with it…)

Got it working, thanks to Nameless and HappyCadaver!

For anyone else trying to do this, I couldn’t get the Tuya integration to work with the Kichler app. I had to:

  • Download the Tuya app
  • Create an account
  • Put the Kichler smart connect plug into pairing mode
  • Pair it with the Tuya app (note, this removes it from Kichler app)
  • Install the Tuya integration
  • Use the User Code from the Tuya app (Me…Gear/Nut…Account and Security…scroll down)
  • Scan the QR code (the line with a box around it next to the Gear/Nut)
  • The Tuya integration should now show your account and the Kichler control

Also as mentioned above, be sure the IoT wifi network PW does NOT have a space - The Tuya app doesn’t work with a space in the PW…

HTH anyone else!

Nice, glad you got it working.

@Nameless the other setup wouldn’t happen to be Brilliance would it? I haven’t tried it but I notice that aside from branding and polish the apps look identical.

I looked it up and I used Atomi lights from Costco in the past. Bought 8 lights and quality was so terrible that I had replaced so many over a couple years using their warranty that I believe I was up to like 15 or 16.
Sold that house and will never buy that brand again.
