App crashing when accessing 'Companion App' settings

I am on the latest version of HA (2025.9.4) running on a VM.

For a couple of months now, every time I go to the companion app configuration/settings window on the app, the entire app freezes and I have to force close it.

What I have noticed, is that when I first open the companion app settings window, the ‘Server & devices’ list is empty, and I cannot do anything as the app crashes. But when I reload it the second time, the server name and my device name is there.

I have both the external and internal URL setup. Have tried clearing the app cache and reinstalling the app entirely.

I cannot grab the app logs as they disappear after the crash/restart of the app.

Any ideas what I can check?

What about the device you are running the companion app on? Is it up-to-date?

Installing app version 2025.9.2 seems to resolve it.
