Is it possible to create an automation that when an app fails to load (in my case z2m sometimes fails to load) to them notify me?
Even better can I trigger that automation to try to reload that app?
The Home Assistant Supervisor integration is what you’re looking for. You’ll have to enable the binary_sensor ‘Running’ and then you can test if its running in a template trigger
automation:
triggers:

You can then start it with
action: hassio.app_start
data:
app: your_app
As for notifying you, that would depend on how you want to be notified.
