Apple AirTags as NFC trigger in Shortcuts

I plan to use NFC tags to trigger the Shortcuts app, that triggers virtual HomeKit devices, that can trigger Home Assistant. :slight_smile:

The distance has to be within 2 cm for a NFC card to work. Is the distance of an AirTag bigger? Can someone with a AirTag please test this?

It is not bigger; you have to pretty much touch the it - it’s using an NFC chip inside the Air Tag, not UWB or another tech. Also your phone has to be unlocked for it to launch the automation.
