This morning, I installed the latest HA update on my iPhone 17 Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra and after that all my complications didn’t update anymore. So I restarted my iPhone and Watch and now all complications only show dashes: — — —
With this latest update, my complications are legacy now?!

This is a big problem because I heavily rely on some important data on my Apple Watch.
I hope this can be solved asap.

In my situation, there are no duplicates of my complications. I have built more than 10 complications and all show dashes.

I had to reinstall the hass app on the watch and remove the hass field from the complication and re-add it after installation.
What strange is is that now the icon is shown before the body content therefore there is less space now in the default grafic body.
It’s completely broken and the new style of complications is very limited when you compare them with the existing “legacy” complications. This is a big disappointment.
Like an idiot, I updated the HA app on my phone yesterday 
Now every single compilation in all four corners of the watch no longer update.
Why the heck does nobody check the app actually works before rolling any updates out to production?!
Total fail.
Same here; the entity values in my complications are stuck at the state they were in when I performed the update…
I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app on the watch several times, but the Home Assistant complications no longer appear at all in the Apple Watch app.
I hope this gets fixed soon, as it’s really handy to have key information right on the watch.
My app auto updated tonight and since then, the Apple Watch complication is stuck on what it showed just before the update. Version is now 2026.9.0.
Also, my lock screen widget on the iPhone has changed from my custom one to one saying: “Temperature: 21.5”. It has reset to Source: Entity instead of showing my complication.
FYI, I was able to restore it all. For Apple Watch I had to go in the Watch app (Not Home Assistant app) and select the complication again on the watch faces where it was used. For the iPhone lock screen complication, I had to edit the lock screen, click my complication and change it from Source: Entity to Source: Template. Don’t forget to save.
Yes, same problems here. I have a lot of “legacy” complications with very smart YAML code to display 3 lines of information on large Rectangular Apple Watch complications. Those complications are totally gone on the Apple Watch self, but still visible in the Companion HA app on my iPhone. Also the YAML code of each line is processed and shown correctly in the Companion HA app on my iPhone.
On my Apple Watch, I now see some alternative Rectangular complications but they suck and only show 2 lines of distorted information!
I have invested a lot of time to create those complications in the past and they totally screwed up with these “new style of complications”. And the high class complications I have built, they now call them “legacy”?! Unbelievable!

I’ve also noticed that all the colors are now gone from those too and like your first post they all change to — when the watch is resting now too, instead of still showing all their values.
Who the heck signed off the killing thousands of existing integrations with this ridiculous update?!
Also having issues with my complication after the update. I was able to get it somewhat working again after the suggestion from @magfro to re-add the complication in the Watch app or my watch face, but it is missing some information from the design I built (leading and trailing values).
Yes, also coloring values doesn’t work anymore, just a white color everywhere. This is the new ugly style with very limited options now! I want back my “legacy” options with all rich possibilities! Why the hell did they change this?!
Has anyone figured out how to remove the newly added icon from “legacy” complications? I have three lines of templated text and the enforced icon just wastes screen space.
Not me, but I have reimplemented my pair of 3-line complications using the new-fangled stuff and it is possible to not have an icon with that. However, it looks naff as I can’t get the colour-per-line to work properly and the elephant in the room is that updating is crap (the top line of each complication has a timestamp to make it obvious).
This is very far from ideal, but with volunteer devs we should remember not to be too harsh.
I may well go and raise bugs when I can figure out how may to raise, One won’t be enough.
Last year I raised this one, and it seemed that it wouldn’t get sorted out until after a grand refactoring, so maybe this is that grand refactoring and maybe now more attention can be spent on improving behaviour: Apple watch complications not showing latest data at 15min update cycles · Issue #4017 · home-assistant/iOS · GitHub
Were you able to get three lines of template? If so, how? I tried all sorts of combinations (putting templates in each of the four “slots”) but I either got two identical lines, or some lines just wouldn’t show…
And yes, 100% we should never forget that the devs are volunteers and be grateful for their efforts.
