Is there a way to use an old AppleTV remote with HA? Not to control an AppleTV but for example to control lights or a speaker
Not the easiest way, but I think it is possible:
- you need to have something like flirc module, that is keyboard emulator with IR receiver and translates received IR commands to keystrokes - it needs to be connected to HA via USB.
- then you can configure Keyboard Remote integration and link events it creates to automarion triggers to control your speaker.
I admit I never implemented this, though it is on the list of things to try, as I’m working now on some remotely controlled dashboard for my HA and this would be handy way of controlling it.
