Aqara DJT11LM vibration sensor loses connection

I’m running Home Assistant Yellow and I’m having an issue with the Aqara DJT11LM vibration sensors.

I have many of these sensors and after pairing them some lose connectivity and stop reporting. After many re-pairs some of them are able to communicate and reports but a lot of them don’t.

I am using the built-in zigbee device with ZHA.
I tried to enable the debug log of the ZHA but couldn’t find anything interesting there.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I’m using Z2M and experiencing the same issue. I reset the sensor and add it, and it reports once or twice before completely stopping.

I’m starting to wonder if the sensor itself is the problem.

I have a handful of these and one of them had two issues - there was “play” in the way the circuit board mounted to the plastic casing, so that when the battery was inserted, it was almost constantly pressing and holding the reset button. Also, the battery contacts against the board (not the one that touches the edge of the battery) were not raised enough to make good contact.

The symptom was a massively high power outage count (like 1500 in my case) over a short period of time, and constant failures.

I was too lazy to return mine. If this is your issue:

  1. Snap the case apart, pull out the reset switch, and file it down slightly where it touches the reset button. Maybe 1/32" at a time until you can feel that pushing the board toward the switch isn’t pressing the button anymore.

  2. With a toothpick or similar, slightly bend the battery terminals upward so they touch the battery.
