Hello everyone, l’m happy to be part of this forum.
I’m a beginner in the whole Home Assistant segment, but l have big plans.
One question I’m asking myself is the following:
I want to station an Aquara Fp2 in my hallway (red dot in the quick sketch) that’s the center of my apartment that I always have to walk past if I change rooms.
My biggest wish would be that when I go through a door into another room (outside the sensor field)
Aquara can then switch on Home Assistant in this room, light and ambience, lighting or other things and only switch it off again when I leave the room and move through the hallway into another room. ?
I would be happy to receive a positive message from you
What you want to do might be technically possible, but I don’t think it would ever br reliable. If you really want to try, you probably have to setup a zone by each threshold and then have a bunch of automations so that when you enter a zone by a given door the lights in the room toggle. I hope you live alone though, because if someone else gets close to that door while you’re in the room, the lights would toggle off. And there’s no easy way to tell in which direction you enter and exit a zone. Trust me, I tried once as an exercise. It worked right about 10% of the time.
Again, don’t do this. It’s not what that sensor is designed to do.
