It is disheartening that out of the four FP2, none of them are able to establish a connection.
Have you tried a different WiFi router? If you have 4 Aqara FP2s, and none of them can stay connected to your WiFi networkā¦maybe it is your WiFi network?
I have a number of FP2ās around the house and had them working for around a year now with very few issues (ghosting is still an issue).
Recently I messaged Aqara support with a suggestion to add reporting the number of people present in a room or zone. I mentioned this would be helpful for automations where users want different actions depending on the number of occupants in an area.
Iām happy to say they listened and have added this function in the most recent firmware update (they really did react to this quickly). In the Aqara app you have to manually turn on this function for each FP2. They have also added a ānumber of visitsā function too.
My question is, as there is no Aqara integration for HA, how will these new features be picked up for use in HA? Will it be the HomeKit integration developers or is it dependent on Apple including at their end from the Aqara API?
Where is this setting in the app?
I canāt see it.
Make sure each FP2 has the latest firmware update (version 1.2.4_0002.0066)
Then use the ā¢ā¢ā¢ to go to settings > Device Settings > Advanced Functions
Ah, okay. Mine are still showing 1.2.3_0005.0066 so there must be another update in the pipeline.
I got the 2.3 on one sensor and a bit later the 2.4 on another. My last one only wants to update to 2.3 and the one on 2.3 says itās the latest release as wellā¦
I have the exact same question: how do I know when I can make use of the count of people in a room / zone through the HA interface?
In the US I can only see v1.2.3 as of today. So no person count or visitors details.
I received a new Firmware on two of my devices. 1.2.5 now allows mounting the device into a corner and not having to bother with weird mapping stuff.
Unfortunately two unused, just unpacked devices just upgrade to 1.2.3 and another device on 1.2.4 (which one device in use never received, but now offered 1.2.5.) does not show the 1.2.5. Since I wanted to install almost all of them in corners this is annoying, but we will see how long it will take to get the new version on all of them (upgrading all at once is kinda risky anywaysā¦).
In case it may be useful for anyone reading, using firmware 1.2.3_0005.0066, I had the luminance sensor working, but no presence detection , having tried lots of ways to make it work.
In the end it worked after I added a detection zone and deleting the zone; it reset the sensor and it appears to be working fine.
Iāve just updated my FP2s to 1.2.5_0003.0072, which is the firmware that supports corner mounting without the weird mapping.
My FP2s have always been corner mounted, but I canāt see any difference in the maps or find anything in the settings to tell it the device is mounted in a corner.
Does anyone know how this works?
You will have to factory reset the device and redo the map. After this the map will have the sensor in the chosen corner
Ah, brilliant. Thanks.
It may not require a full factory resetā¦ Here is the procedure I tested recently.
In the Aqara App, when you select your FP2 sensor, you can go into āZone Managementā and then click the top right icon to NAME and SAVE your current Zone configuration. Verify the zone config was saved by looking for it under the lower left āTemplateā icon. Youāll want to have this template available for later.
To change the location of the FP2 to a Corner, go back to the main page for the FP2 sensor, then click the top right corner 3 dots menu, then Device Settings, and then Detection Mode. Make sure Zone Detection is selected, and then click āInstall Nowā. You will be prompted to āReinstallā the device. Choosing to do so will allow the choice of the FP2 location. Keep working through the menus and then select the Template you saved earlier and Apply it.
NOTE: I have only done this with a FP2 sensor that I do not have connected to anything. Thus, I am not sure if the device will stay connected to HomeKit, Alexa, Google, or Home Assistant through this process. Please proceed with caution!
Interesting. Iāll try that when Iāve enough time to go through any reconnections if needed.
Thatās probably quite sound standalone advice anyway. Thanks
This is quite interesting, because - if I remember correctly - I just went the way of pressing the button āInstallation Modeā and even with saving the map before I was not able to choose the map with another installation location.
I have on more device to setup in a corner and will try your way!
I did this procedure, and it stayed connected to HA no issues.
Hello, Iām also working to create a separate VLAN. Do you have details of the server destination, port and etc?
