Typically all Aqara products do work with ha following their matter/zigbee protocol youll just need their hub is all. Didnt know this exist tbh may have to wait till some reviews are posted to see or just buy and return if not satisfied.
I do have one (oops trigger-happy on that one) but it’s basically useless at the moment with HA. And I don’t have anything in the aqara ecosystem except the H2 switches which I bought specifically because I could integreate them straight into HA.
It’s a wifi device but I have no clue how (or even if it’s possible) to integrate it into HA.
The Aqara integration to HA relies on Matter or Zigbee but no luck for this device…
ah interesting - I have not deactivated zeroconf and it never prompted me to add the dial even though it’s been on the network for a few days now so not sure how I should go about it tbh.
Don’t think it would solve my issue anyway since, if I understand correctly, it would let me control the 8 switches on the device from HA but without a way to program them from HA ?
I don’t use Homekit so I really have no idea, but since this device has the Homekit stamp on it and you already bought it, it might be worth looking into.
Was hoping for a clean solution or a way to engineer a clean solution myself - happy to be the guinea pig if someone has an idea on how to reverse-engineer something from the aqara app or something else…
Did you ever end up finding a solution? At the moment it seems non-aqara lights can’t be controlled using the knob itself. It can only be used to turn them on or off. Which sort of defeats the purpose of having a smart dial to begin with, unless you’re exclusively all in on their products.
I have a few of the dials and created a post on Aqara’s forum. Maybe if enough post reply to the thread, Aqara will at least add support for controlling third party Matter devices. Home Assistant support would be the dream, but not likely to happen.
Will comment there as well but your issue is slightly different.
I have no interest whatsoever in using their app or hub, I would just like the dial to be fully usable as a zigbee and/or matter device elsewhere.
Sent an email to support to test the waters and they said they won’t do it - hence my selling the device as it’s just a shiny brick hanging on my wall now
According to their manual, the device does support zigbee. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0710/9220/7830/files/V1_EN.pdf?v=1737544531. Check product specifications at the bottom. It seems weird that Zigbee is not mentioned anywhere else in the manual though. But perhaps it can be configured to switch to zigbee mode just like their curtain controller. Has anyone tried? Before I buy one of these, I would like to know that it actually can work well without wifi.
Yeah, it could be. But it would be nice to know. The device is also advertised as having wifi, bluetooth and zigbee on many retailer sites, that’s why I considered it in the first place. Very misleading advertising if it isn’t true.
