Hey there,
I recently bought an Aqara W500 and connected it to my Homepod Mini via Thread/Matter. (It works flawlessly via the apple home app.)
I added the Homepod Mini as my preferred Network in the Thread-Integration in Home Assistant, but no devices show.
I am quite new to thread/matter. Any ideas what I did wrong? I am happy to provide further details. Thx!
Sounds like everything is working as designed. The preferred network setting in Thread integration settings is only needed if you intend to use the HA companion app to commission new devices. It shows you Thread networks that it discovers on your local network, but it does not show any devices.
Thread is used for network connectivity while Matter is used for control. Since your Aqara device is already on the Thread network, it doesn’t need to be added again. And since it’s being controlled by the Apple Matter fabric, you can use that fabric’s app (the Apple Home app) to turn on pairing mode, which provides a setup code to add it to a second Matter fabric.
Make sure you have Matter (and IPv6) up and running in HA, then you can use the Apple Home setup code to add it to Home Assistant. After that it should be controllable by both fabrics (Apple and HA) and both apps.

Thx! Unfortunately this did not solve the issue. Instead throwing another border router in the mix fixed it.
