Yes, I am still waiting for the support as well. Especially because I wanted to fully test the device or return it, if it’s not doing everything I am looking for. I did not think that it would not be supported by now, since the W100 is for some time already.
Thanks for sharing, I opted for a different solution to control the radiator (less wiring), I was planning to use now the W100, in the assumption that that would give me a binary sensor ‘heater-on’ but unfortunately all these extra params are not available via thread, only with Aqara hub. I returned it
I now operating it with a Sonoff zigbee temperature sensor, a Shelly 1PM mini and a virtual thermostat in home assistant. missing the ‘manual’ control though
maybe if the Aqara W100 gets more elaborate support in HA i can still adopt my system.
Aqara W100 has Zigbee support and work pretty well and is nicely customizable. You can use external temperature sensor as well or virtual one which can be controlled on W100 with +/- buttons as a target heating temperature for e.g. I have 6 of W100 and all works great for last 3 months so far.
Just installed the W500 as well. Trying to connect it to HA, but it’s not working smootly yet. I tried Matter first, it starts the configuration but ends in an error. Then switched to Zigbee (ZHA), and I can connect it. However, not all entities are really giving correct values, and I can’t click on the device (HA will freeze).
Is this model just too new for ZHA or Matter?
Edit: I just noticed the Power entity doesnt display the correct values. It says 30W, but actually it uses 300W. This is the case when using Zibgee with ZHA.
Edit 2: Added now through Z2MQTT. Works great, the only thing I am missing now is the Power entity. I would like to follow the energy used.
I have the Aqara w500 in Zigbee mode, integrated into Home Assistant through Zigbee2mqtt.
Things work relatively well and I have automations cycling through the different presets. However I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to customize the temperature for each preset! Neither through the exposed variables nor through the device itself.
Hello
By curiosity how did you swicthed the aqara w500 in zigbee mode ?
i wanted to buy it, but i read in some comment that without Aqara hub it cannot be switched to zigbee mode.
And so not possible to add in Home assistant.
Hey Ben, I was having the same question as you, you need to configure it with the Aqara app, to change it to Zigbee mode. It uploads a new firmware to the device
Thanks for the reponse ! just one element to be sure, in order to configure it in Aqara app, do we need to have an aqara hub ? (or can we do it through another thread border router for example)
If it’s anything like the latest Aqara products (like the H2 switches), then you only need the app to switch from Matter to Zigbee (& vice-versa). No hub required.
Try it out yourself - the only thing it can cost you is 5 minutes of your time.
It would be great if Home Assistant would get support for the Aqara W500 over Zigbee ZHA. I was looking for exactly such a device. My first hit was a Salus Quantum SQ610 but although it has zigbee support it is vendor locked to their own hub. The Aqara looked like a great alternative, until I found this topic.
