Ariela - Home Assistant Android Client

Had not used it but it looked quite cool.

What about Telegram integration to send MQTT like messages? Just a thought.

I will add that to my TODO list.

I have noticed that the device tracker never shows that the phone is away. It is enabled in the app as mode WiFi. I have an entry in known_devices but I wonder if I need something in the device_tracker section of my configuration file. If so, what might it be?

I’d also suggest that in the tracking mode settings page, it is GPS & WiFi as an option and WiFi as the other option to make it clear the first option is both.

I have push notifications setup. I was asking about actionable notifications. When something happens, instead of just being notified, I get a notification with a couple of buttons so I can just press the button in response to the notification…

To enable the away status you have to switch over to 4g and be connect with your remote ip. Because if you only switch off your Wi-Fi it will keep the home status.

I will add this to my TODO list

Can you send me please your notify configuration? Did you put any actions by any chance?

But that is not how say the nmap device tracker works. When the device goes off network, HA changes state to away. If Ariela is not sending a ‘home’ message, HA should show as away.

When using Wi-Fi tracking only, if Ariela is not connected to a Home Wi-Fi network, it will send to Home Assistant information that the device is not home anymore.
If this not working please send me the logs so i can investigate. Thank you.

A little teaser of a new function that will be available in Ariela: ability to publish MQTT packets directly from the app:

Hi, just to.let you know that the order of the cards is still alphabetically

Is it possible to add access to the Logbook? I’m not sure how that function works

The next version will automatically contain the fix.

I will add this to my TODO list.

I haven’t tried it again. I don’t have an automation with actionables at the moment, since I couldn’t get them to work. I just assumed they weren’t implemented yet. I’ll have a look at it when I get home. HOWEVER. I do have one issue I know is an issue, but I’m not sure if there’s anything you can do about it.

I can set up Ariela with my HA while I’m at home, and everything works great (love love love this app), but it won’t work through my VPN. I was able to set it up at one point through my VPN, but now it just keeps telling me I need to enable http api password in my config.yaml. Would be nice if it didn’t care if I was on VPN or not, it would just work with the same long term API.

After you do the initial configuration(on internal network), use the configure external acces. Please let me know if works.

But once it is off the network, HA will never get that message. It needs to be something on the HA side that detects that the ‘home’ message is no longer received. I’m really not sure how it works for say the MQTT platform on device_tracker component.

I don’t want open ports on my firewall if I can help it. It’s not so important, but would be nice if it worked through my VPN. That’s why I have a VPN

Then what you can do is use the external configuration and use the same IP you used on initial setup.

I’ll have to give that a try when I get home in a few hours. Thanks. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I am actually having problems after the last update with auto reconnecting. It worked in 1.2.5 but now when it switches over to my duckdns when on 4g and I switch back on Wi-Fi it keeps trying to reconnect with my duckdns.
